Rachael's first activity was dance. She began at just two years old. She found a wonderful home to learn dance at Pirouette Dance Academy in Fall River, MA. The young, energetic and supportive staff there was the perfect place for Rachael to get her start.
Rachael performed in her first recital at the age of three. It was a special day for the Silva family. Here's a video of Rachael receiving a "special award" at the beginning of that recital. Here's a video of Rachael's first recital dance.
Competitive Accomplishments
At the age of seven, Rachael began competitive dancing. Drawing on her excellent gymnastics skills, Rachael's performed an acro routine to get A-Teen's "Halfway Around The World". After several regional competitions, Rachael topped things off at the EDC Nationals in Sturbridge, where she took first place in her age group, as well as first place for all rec level solos, duos or trios. Here's a video of that performance.
Rachael would have one more competitive year at Pirouette, as her gymnastics schedule didn't allow her to be part of the competition team. She made the most of the opportunity, winning first place at the Diva Dance nationals with her performance to Ricky Martin's "Cup Of Life". Watch it here.
After leaving Pirouette, Rachael started training under choreographer JunnYahh Rodriguez. Rachael continued her success, again taking first at Diva Dance nationals, including the top score among all soloists of any age with her performance to Jennifer Lopez's "Let's Get Loud". See it here. The following year, Rachael had another successful season under JunnYahh performing to Junior-Senior's "Move You Feet". Watch here.
At the same time, Rachael moved her studio training to Dance Expressions in Middletown, RI. There, she worked with Shannon (Mahoney) Dugan. To date, she has competed three solo routines with Dugan, Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal", "Move" by Little Mix and Todrick Hall's "Dem Beats."
In 2020 Rachael has been preparing to perform a solo to Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful People". The COVID-19 pandemic has put a halt to dance competitions so Rachael was unable to perform her routine in competition. Rachael did get to perform the routine at Dance Expressions' virtual recital. You can see it here.
